Project Summary

AutoBlinds is an award-winning product that increases accessibility of window blinds. Throughout my senior year of high school, I led a team of peer engineers to conceptualize, plan and prototype AutoBlinds. This is one of my largest projects and I am very proud of my team and I for completing the project.

The project was completed in a senior capstone course of Project Lead the Way. The goal was to incorporate our knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines learned in the four classes prior to improve the quality of life of others. We defined our own market, approach, and design constraints. The design goals and background are best described in the design proposal document. The symposium presentation describes a summary of the process used to create and perfect the prototype.

AutoBlinds provides the ability to open and close their blinds based on a clock setting, an ambient light sensor, or easy to use buttons. The device is an accessory to the customers window blinds. This is an advantage to some solutions that are already on the market; the user does not need to replace their blinds in order to gain additional features.
